Frequently asked questions

What is buffered coir?
Buffering typically means treating coir to stabilise cation exchange sites-often with calcium-so potassium and sodium are less likely to interfere with nutrition early in the crop. We specify buffer level per product and crop.
What EC levels are typical?
In 1:1.5 or pour-through, targets depend on crop stage, water quality, and fertiliser programme. We provide starting ranges on data sheets and recommend working with your agronomist for your site.
How much water does coir hold?
Water holding depends on fibre:pith ratio, block or bag volume, and compaction. Berry discs behave differently to 5 kg blocks or 40 L blueberry bags-we quote effective porosity and practical irrigation response per SKU.
Why choose bags vs blocks?
Bags suit certain gutter and trough systems; blocks suit pots and some refill systems. Crop, labour, and drainage strategy usually drive the choice-we help map format to system.
Is coir suitable for medicinal cannabis?
Yes, with the right structure, buffer, and irrigation design. We list CannabisPro coir mix and can align technical advice to your licence and production model.
